How to do it
Open the ticket and look at the reply box.
The reply box shows one time chip. It holds the minutes this reply will log. Hover it to see the minutes you typed and the minutes the tracker saw. An amber dot shows when those two are far apart. It is a nudge, not a block. You can still send.
Click the chip, then flip the control to Manual.
The row where you type the minutes is at the bottom. It reads Log 15 min. You can log minutes with no window at all.
Set the Date.
The entry lands on the day you pick. How far back you can go is set by the Re-attribution Window at Settings > Service Levels > Time Tracking.
Set Start and End if you know them.
They use the portal's own time zone. The minutes field is tied to them. Change the window and the minutes update. Change the minutes and the End moves. One entry cannot cross midnight and cannot go past 16 hours. Split longer work into two entries.
Check any Quiet row, then send.
When you leave a ticket and come back, the control can show the gap as a Quiet row. It names the range and the minutes. The row is ticked and included, so the gap counts toward your time. If your total is more than what we saw and more than 1.5 times the ticket estimate, a box asks if the minutes are right. Choose Yes, that's right to keep them. Nothing is cut for you.
To change billing on an entry, click its $ icon.
It moves the entry between the Billable and Non-billable parts. On a rolled up row it moves that tech's whole day. A green $ makes the entry billable. A red $ makes it non-billable. It shows on out of scope tickets only, and only if you can edit time.
What you will have
- Log time against an earlier day without faking the reply time.
- Set the Start and End of the work.
- Read the amber dot and the Quiet row.
- Make an entry billable or not.
Why it works this way: How to log time on a ticket for a different day
The reply keeps its real time stamp. Only the hours land on the day you pick.
A day in a closed period is refused. Open the period first.
If it did not work: How to log time on a ticket for a different day
- The date is refused. It is in a closed period, or too far back.
- You cannot see the $ icon: the ticket is in scope, or you cannot edit time.
- Start and End will not save: the entry crosses midnight or runs past 16 hours. Split it in two.
