How to find any client, ticket, password or device with Search in GoTenix
Type two letters in the "Search all the things…" box in the top bar and get matching passwords, devices, clients, people, knowledge base articles, tickets, network devices, procedures, workflows, domains, expirations and assets in one grouped list, then press Ctrl+K to get back to the box from any page.
Search box
The "Search all the things…" box sits in the top bar. Type at least two letters and results appear below it as you type, grouped by category. Try part of a client name to jump to the client, a ticket number to open that ticket, a device serial number to find the machine, a domain name to find its record, or tag: followed by a tag name to list what carries that tag. A category only appears if you have view access to what it searches. Six more kinds of record show up the same way when they match: Devices, Network Devices, Procedures, Workflows, Expirations and Assets.
Passwords
Vault entries. One word matches the entry name, the login or the web address. Several words each have to match one of those or the client's name. Each result shows the client and the login it belongs to. This is the first category by default.
Clients
Client organizations matched by name or domain. Spaces and punctuation in a name do not matter, so a name typed without its spaces still finds the client. When nothing contains what you typed, a near-miss typo can still surface one.
Users
Staff and client contacts, matched by name or email. A result is labeled Staff or Contact depending on which kind matched.
Knowledge Base
Knowledge base articles, matched by title or by words inside the article itself.
Tickets
A whole number finds the ticket with that number. One word matches the ticket subject. Several words each have to match the subject, the client name or the contact name. A word that appears only in a ticket's description or replies will not find it. Each result shows the contact, the client and the status.
Domains
Domain records matched by domain name, registrar or DNS provider.
View all results
The last row of the dropdown, and what Enter does when no result is highlighted, opens the Search page for the same query. It has one tab per category that matched, each with its own count, in your Category Order, and shows up to 25 results per category. A Tags box above the results lists tags whose name matches, most-used first, and clicking one filters to everything carrying that tag. Clicking a result closes the search and opens that record's own page directly. A client result lands on that client's page, not on a list.

Why it works this way: How to find any client, ticket, password or device with Search in GoTenix
Ticket search is built for finding a ticket by what people call it. It matches the subject, and with several words also the client and the contact, not the description or replies, so a word that lives only in the body of a ticket will not find it from the box.
The header search does not cover Settings pages. Settings > System > All Settings has its own "Search every setting…" box for that, and it lists the settings you have access to.

Keyboard
Press Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on a Mac) from any page to jump into the search box, then use the up and down arrow keys to move through the results and Enter to open the highlighted one. With nothing highlighted, Enter opens the Search page. Escape clears what you typed first, then closes the dropdown on a second press.
Tag search
Prefix your query with tag: (for example tag:backup) to list items carrying a matching tag instead of matching the word itself. Tag search covers the categories that can be tagged, such as tickets, devices, passwords, documents and procedures. On the Search page, matching tags also appear above the results, ranked by how many clients use that tag name.
Ask Elise
Search in chat. Ask Elise to find the urgent tickets about the VPN, to look up the client whose domain you half remember, or to search everything for a keyword. She reads and changes nothing, and a long list is reported with its real total rather than as everything. Her ticket search matches the description as well as the subject and can narrow by status, priority, assignee or client. Each lookup needs view access to tickets, clients or Search.
Questions this page answers
How does global search work?
Type at least 2 characters in the search bar (Ctrl+K to open). Results are grouped by type: Clients, Tickets, Users, Devices, KB Articles, Vault Entries, Procedures, Domains, and more. Click any result to navigate to its detail page. Results update as you type.
What can I search for?
Global search covers clients (by name or domain), tickets (by number or subject), users, both staff and client contacts (by name or email), devices, network devices, vault entries, knowledge base articles, procedures, workflows, domains, expirations, and assets. Prefix your query with `tag:` to find anything carrying a matching tag. Category tabs show how many results matched each type.
Does the global search match multi-word queries across fields?
Yes. The search bar splits your query into words and matches them with AND across the searchable fields for each entity type, so "acme vpn" finds a ticket when one word is in the subject and the other is in the client name or the contact. Ticket text search covers subject, client, and contact (not the message body); knowledge-base search also looks inside article content. Permission-gated per user. Header bar everywhere; the dedicated /admin/search page returns 25 results per category.
What does the search bar look at?
12 entity types in parallel: clients (name, domain), tickets (# or subject or client or contact), users, devices, network devices, KB articles (title + content), vault entries, procedures, workflows, domains, expirations, and assets. Set per-category result counts, hide categories, and reorder priority at /admin/profile > Search Preferences.
Can I search for everything tagged with X?
Yes, prefix your query with "tag:" to switch into tag mode. e.g. "tag:fortigate" lists every entity carrying a tag whose name contains "fortigate". The /admin/search results page also shows a row of tag suggestions above your results, ranked by how many client orgs use that name, most-used first. The header search dropdown does not show these suggestions; it only lists matching records.
