How to use the Set up your business wizard
The Set up your business wizard writes down who you are once: company name, portal name, phone and default sales tax. It also points you to the mailboxes, company profile and logo that the rest of your identity comes from.

How to do it
Open Settings, then System, then Setup Wizards, and click Set up your business.
The page is called Guided setup. Wizards are grouped by area, and Set up your business is under Company. It has 7 lessons. Only a Super Admin or an Admin can open it.
Read the introduction and click Start the lessons.
If you have started before, the button reads "Continue: lesson" with the next lesson number, and "Review the lessons" once every lesson is done. Back and Next let you read ahead without acting.
Lesson 1, Company name: click Customize, type your name, then click Apply custom.
Type it exactly as clients should see it. It shows on every invoice, quote, email header and on the sign-in page. This lesson has no recommended value, so Apply recommended is switched off. Every page that shows the name picks the new one up right away.
Lesson 2, Portal name: click Customize, type your portal brand, then click Apply custom.
This is what the portal calls itself on the sign-in page, the browser tab and the legal pages. It matters if you give the portal to your clients under your own brand. Click Skip and the portal keeps the name it has. The lesson shows a note that says there is no value to suggest, so type your own.
Lesson 3, Support & billing mailboxes: click Open Mail Connections and connect your mailboxes.
Your public support address shows on the privacy policy, the terms, client pages and email footers. Your billing contact shows on invoice and quote PDFs. Neither is typed in. Both come from mailboxes you connect to the Help Desk function and to Billing on the Mail Connections card, under Admin, then Integrations, then Mail. That way the printed address is one a client can really reach. The Connect your mailboxes wizard walks it lesson by lesson. Come back and click Got it.
Lesson 4, Company phone: click Customize, type the number, then click Apply custom.
Type it as it should print. It is the contact number on your invoice and quote PDFs.
Lesson 5, Default sales tax rate: click Apply recommended to keep 0, or click Customize and type a percent.
This is the sales tax applied to new invoices by default. Leave it at 0 if you are tax-exempt or collect tax through your accounting system. A wrong default quietly mis-taxes every invoice, so check it. For 8.25 percent, type 8.25. Once QuickBooks is connected, tax usually comes from the books and this field goes read-only.
Warning: A wrong default tax rate does not warn you. It just changes every new invoice until someone notices.Lesson 6, Company profile & logo: click Open Company Profile, fill in the rest, then click Got it.
Company Profile holds your currency, timezone and mailing address. Fill in the Company Address card and the remaining fields. Then upload your logo on Branding, one page over. All of it flows onto invoice and quote PDFs, and an invoice with no address or logo reads as unfinished.
Lesson 7, How this runs day to day: read it and click Got it.
Company identity has no sync and no schedule. The values you saved are read fresh each time an invoice or quote is made, an email is wrapped or a client loads the portal, so a change shows on the very next document. A stale value fails quietly, such as an old phone number on a year of invoices. The support and billing addresses cannot go stale this way, because they come from the mailboxes you connected.
When the last lesson is done, check the banner and click See what's next.
The page says "All steps reviewed" and counts how many lessons you applied and skipped. See what's next returns to the wizard list, where Set up your business shows Done. Exit leaves the wizard at any point.
What you will have
- Set your company name, portal name, company phone and default sales tax rate.
- Know which parts of your identity come from somewhere else: mailboxes, company profile and logo.
- See your details on the very next invoice, quote, email and client sign-in.
Why it works this way: How to use the Set up your business wizard
Your company identity shows on invoices, quotes, ticket email, the client portal and the sign-in page. The wizard collects it once so you do not retype it screen by screen.
Two kinds of identity live here. Four lessons are typed values: company name, portal name, phone and tax. The other lessons are pointers, because that identity comes from richer places: your support and billing addresses come from the mailboxes you connect, and your mailing address and logo come from Company Profile and Branding.
Company name and portal name are different on purpose. The company name is your business. The portal name is what the portal calls itself on the sign-in page, the browser tab and the legal pages.

Edit the pages directly
Open Settings, then Company, then Company Profile for the company name, phone, currency and timezone, and Branding for the logo.
If it did not work: How to use the Set up your business wizard
- Apply recommended is greyed out on a lesson: that lesson has no recommended value. Click Customize, type your own, then click Apply custom.
- Your support address looks wrong on a client page: it is not typed anywhere. Check the Help Desk mailbox on the Mail Connections card.
- You do not see Set up your business in the list: only a Super Admin or an Admin can run it.
Questions this page answers
What does the Set up your business wizard do?
It lets you set your company name, portal name, company phone and default sales tax once, and points you to the mailboxes, company profile and logo that the rest of your identity comes from.

The company name is your business, printed on invoices, quotes and emails. The portal name is what the portal calls itself on the sign-in page, the browser tab and the legal pages.

How quickly does a change in this wizard show up?
On the very next invoice, quote, email or client page load, because the values are read fresh each time.
