How to save, check and remove your card on file
Save a card once on the My Payment page and your IT provider can charge it for each invoice as it comes due, without you reading card numbers out or sending them by email. Remove it the same way whenever you want.

How to do it
Open My Payment in the left menu.
My Payment is in the menu only when your IT provider has turned on card saving, and only for the account owner, the Primary Contact and users with the Billing role. If you type its address without it being on, you land on Billing instead. Other roles do not see the page at all.
Read what is on file.
Each saved card shows its brand and last four digits, for example "Visa ending 4242", with "Expires 08/2029" under it. A "Default" tag marks the default card. With nothing saved, the page says "No card on file" and "Save a card and [your provider's name] can settle your invoices without asking you for the details each time." There is no amount, no pay button and no invoice list on this page. Nothing here charges a card. The article How bills, plans and a card on file work in the client portal shows the rest of your bill.
Read the agreement above Add a card.
It says: "By saving this card you authorize [your provider's name] to keep it on file with their payment processor and to charge it for the amount of each invoice as it comes due, until you remove the card or your service ends." The name is your provider's company name, or "your IT provider" if they have not set one. They can use their own wording, so read what your page shows. When your provider has filled them in, it also names who bills you ("Billed by ...") and what the charge is called on your statement ("Charges appear on your statement as ...").
Click Add a card, then enter the card in the Card details form.
The form says: "Card details go straight to the payment processor. This portal never sees or stores them." The agreement shows again directly above Save card.
Click Save card.
The page says "Card saved." and the new card appears in the list. Cancel takes you back to the list without saving anything.
To take a card off, click Remove next to it and confirm.
The prompt is "Remove this card?". It explains that the card will be detached from your account at the payment processor, that the authorization ends with it, and that future invoices cannot be charged to it. Click Remove card and the page says "Card removed."
Warning: After you remove your only card, your IT provider has no card to charge. Agree another way to pay with them first.
What you will have
- Know what My Payment shows, and what it never does.
- Save a card, and read the agreement before you do.
- Take a card off file, and know what that stops.
Why it works this way: How to save, check and remove your card on file
The card form comes from the payment processor, Stripe. Your card number goes straight from your browser to Stripe. This portal never sees or stores it, and keeps no card details at all. It keeps only a reference to your company's account at the payment processor, and asks Stripe for the card list each time the page opens.
Saving a card is a standing permission, so the page asks you to read it twice: once above the Add a card button and again above Save card.
Once your IT provider has card charging on, an unpaid invoice that is due is charged to your saved card automatically, and a failed charge is tried again on your provider's retry days. Nothing on this page itself charges a card.
Other ways to do this: How to save, check and remove your card on file
Ask your IT provider
They can tell you whether card saving is switched on for your account, and can change your role on the Users page if you need to manage the card.
If it did not work: How to save, check and remove your card on file
- The page says there is no billing email on your company record: the payment processor needs one before it can hold a card. Your account owner or primary contact can add it, or you can ask your IT provider to set it for you. Then come back and save the card.
- The page says another company record already uses this billing email: each company needs its own billing email before a card can be saved. Ask your IT provider.
- The card form does not appear: it loads from js.stripe.com, and an ad blocker, a browser privacy extension or a network content policy can block it silently. Allow js.stripe.com and try again.
- The page says the authorization wording changed while it was open: reload the page, read the agreement again, then save the card.
- The page says it could not load the cards on file: reload the page to try again.
Questions this page answers
Where is my card number kept in the client portal?
With the payment processor, Stripe. The card form sends your number straight from your browser to Stripe, and the portal never sees or stores it. The portal keeps only a reference to your company's account at Stripe and reads the card list from Stripe each time you open the page.
Will my IT provider charge the card I save on My Payment?
Nothing on the My Payment page charges a card. Once your IT provider has card charging on, an unpaid invoice that is due is charged to the saved card automatically, until you remove the card or your service ends.
How do I remove a card from the client portal?
Open My Payment, click Remove next to the card and confirm with Remove card. The card is detached at the payment processor and your IT provider can no longer charge it.
Why does My Payment say there is no billing email on file?
The payment processor needs a billing email for your company before it can hold a card. Your account owner or primary contact can add it, or you can ask your IT provider to set it for you.
Why is My Payment missing from my client portal menu?
Your IT provider has to turn on card saving, and only the account owner, the Primary Contact and users with the Billing role can open the page.
